SD Card Encryption
Encrypting SD card is a good way if you don’t want people other than you have access to your SD card and check the files. In regard to SD card encryption, there are some facts that you need to know about:
1.Even use a same key on different device, it doesn’t give you access to the SD card.
2.Encrypted SD cards can only be red on the device used to encrypt them. And once you lose the original device where you encrypt SD card, all files would be gone.
3.If your device is reset to factory default settings, it will be unable to read encrypted SD cards.
4.During the encryption process, the SD card cannot be used.
5.Before you start, make sure that the battery is charged and keep the device plugged in until encryption is complete.
How to Encrypt SD Card
Before encrypting SD card, you have to think about whether you can take the risk of losing data if the device is broken. I’d highly recommend to backup the important files.
1. Encrypt SD card in android phone
Step 1. Find “Settings” on your android phone and click “Security”.
Step 2. Select “Encrypt SD card” and set up a password on the SD card.
2. Encrypt SD card with SD card encryption software
There are many SD card encryption tools. Bitlocker is a built-in tool on Windows 10 to password protect SD card.
Step 1. Right the disk of your SD card and select “Turn on Bitlocker”.
Step 2. You can choose the way to unlock SD card, using password or smart card.
How to Decrypt SD Card
You can only decrypt SD card on the same device that you encrypted it.
1. Decrypt SD card in android phone
Step 1. Click “Settings” and select “Security”.
Step 2. Select “Decrypt SD card” and type the password you set up to decode SD card.
Encrypted SD Card Recovery
It is necessary to do encrypted SD card recovery when you forget the password and need to export data from SD card.
1.Go to File Manager on your phone and select Settings> System Folders. Then find mmcstore file and send it to your computer by Bluetooth. Use Notepad to open this file, and the password of encrypted SD card is located here.
2.Run FExplorer and open C:\system. Find the mmcstore file and rename it as mmcstore.txt. Then copy it to your computer and open it with Notepad. Check the password in the file.
